The precautionary advisory begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, and will affect Cape Fear Public Utility Authority’s customers near the New Centre Drive and North Kerr Avenue intersection.

The advisory comes as crews will be replacing a valve on the water distribution system. It could impact around 150 customers who live at the following addresses:

  • 522 to 618 N. Kerr Ave.
  • 4525 to 4609 New Centre Drive
  • 4108 to 4270 Sunglow Drive
  • 700 to 742 Indica Court
  • 620 to 745 Tabor Lane
  • All of Crimson Court, Shortfin Drive, Angelfish Lane, Sagedale Drive, Minnow Way, Amberjack Drive, and Crawdad Court

Customers should anticipate periods of low or no water pressure. There is also potential of increased back siphonage, with bacteria introduced into the system.

Customers not using bottle water should boil the tap water for 1 minute and allow it to cool prior to consumption, such as brushing teeth, preparing food, making ice, washing vegetables or feeding pets, etc. The water doesn’t need to be boiled for showering or bathing.

CFPUA will test the water in a lab to ensure it’s safe to consume before lifting the advisory. Check back at PCD, as this brief will be updated once it’s lifted.
