New Hanover NAACP hosts ‘Souls to the Polls’ ahead of municipal elections

WILMINGTON — This weekend one local organization is encouraging people to get out and vote early in the Wilmington municipal election.

The NAACP of New Hanover County continues its election season Souls to the Polls event on Saturday, Oct. 26, 1 p.m. The group will meet at the historic St. Stephen AME Church, 501 Red Cross St., and march to Cape Fear Community College’s downtown early voting location.

Afterward, they will march to the First Baptist Missionary Church on Fifth Street for food and fellowship. The event — hosted by the nation’s largest and oldest grassroots civil rights organization — is open to the public.
