LELAND — Residents in Leland are invited to two simultaneous open houses to give feedback and provide ideas on the future of parks and recreation in Leland and on Loblolly Park, whose construction is expected to begin late 2027. Both open houses will take place on Oct. 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Town Hall.
The parks, recreation, and open space (PROS) master plan open house will explain to residents what the town is currently offering in recreation and allow the community to share ideas for future parks, facilities, and amenities in Leland, which will help guide the town’s parks and recreation priorities for the next 10 years.
The Loblolly Park open house will present the proposed plan for the park and give residents a chance to provide feedback. The park, located off of Long Pine Drive will span over 32 acres and could include a disc golf course. The new amenity would create new opportunities for residents and visitors, like tournaments, community events, and partnerships with local organizations and businesses.

Town council and the parks and recreation board will also hold two special meetings on Oct. 29 to discuss the plans. At 6 p.m., council and the board will discuss the PROS plan. At 7:30 p.m. the meeting will shift focus to the Loblolly Park master plan. Residents will have an opportunity to provide public comment during the Loblolly Park meeting.
