60-year-old woman arrested in connection to bank robbery

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The sheriff’s office has made an arrest of a woman allegedly connected to a bank robbery that took place near Carolina Beach and Saunders roads last week.

Rhonda West, 60, has been charged with robbery and will make her first court appearance on Thursday. West is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Detention Facility.

She is accused of being involved in a robbery of the State Employees Credit Union at 141 Sanders Rd. that occurred Oct. 9. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the case and arrest warrants indicate West threatened a bank teller with a gun and stole around $5,400.
