PENDER COUNTY — Two schools in Pender County will transition to remote learning on Jan. 10.

Tuesday’s storm knocked out power to the schools and has made in-person classes impossible. This temporary measure to go to remote learning is for the safety of students and staff, as electricity is restored, according to officials.

Pender County Schools officials are in communication with Duke Energy to correct the issue.

All other Pender County Schools, including Topsail High School, operated on a two-hour delay on Wednesday.
