On Wednesday, Aug. 26, Wilmington Police Department arrested 26-year-old Anton Nichols Clemmons who faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharge firearm from occupied vehicle. He has received a $100,000 secured bond.

His charges are in connection to an early July shooting that took place in the late afternoon along Burnett Boulevard and South Front Street.

They also charged 18-year-old Kshuan Williams with assault with intent to kill, discharge firearm from occupied vehicle and firearm by a felon for his role in the incidents. After investigating, they have determined Williams was the shooter.

WPD arrested Williams last month for an outstanding warrant for probation violation. He is being held in New Hanover County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.

Officers were called to the Burnett Boulevard area just before 6 p.m. on July 5. Reports indicated several occupants of a silver van and black Dodge Charger were involved in the shooting, with the incident ending at Burnett and Central boulevards.

One person was found suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Detectives determined those involved knew one another. They executed a search warrant on Wellington Avenue thereafter to look for evidence and seized 736 grams of marijuana and a firearm.

The firearm was determined to have been used in the shooting, leading to the arrest of Jameel Chavis of Wilmington.

Detectives also arrested 28-year-old Wilmingtonian Ladasia Henry, responsible for purchasing firearms on behalf of the felons. A search warrant for her residence resulted in the seizure of two hand guns and Henry, out on bond, has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
