On July 5, at 5:56 p.m. Wilmington Police Department officers responded to a shooting on Burnett Boulevard. Following, detectives executed a search warrant on Wellington Avenue looking for evidence; officers seized 736 grams of marijuana and a firearm during the search.

The firearm was determined to have been used in the July 5 shooting, leading to the arrest of Jameel Chavis of Wilmington. Upon further investigation, WPD also arrested Wilmington man Kshuan Williams for an outstanding warrant for probation violation.

Williams is in the New Hanover County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.

Detectives also arrested 28-year-old Wilmington female Ladasia Henry, responsible for purchasing firearms on behalf of the felons. A search warrant for her residence resulted in the seizure of two hand guns.

Henry is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and she is out on bond.

Quashawn Bloodworth

On July 29, WPD responded to two people shot at the 4800 block of Franklin Avenue. When they arrived, a male and female were located with gunshot wounds. While on the scene, another call came in, from 31-year-old Quashawn Bloodworth, from a nearby apartment complex.

Bloodworth told officers something struck his vehicle. After investigation, WPD determined Bloodworth had shot the two victims after a confrontation occurred in the road on Franklin Avenue related to Bloodworth’s driving.

Bloodworth was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He’s in jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
