
UPDATE (2:13 p.m. August 26) — According to the Carolina Beach Police Department, an armed man continues to barricade himself in an apartment on Glenn Avenue, three days after police first responded to a domestic disturbance at the residence.
CBPD officers and outside law enforcement agency officers remain on the scene (717 Glenn Ave. Apt. #2), and have been in contact with the subject.
“The subject is believed to be armed and dangerous,” according to the CBPD.
Glenn Avenue is still closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and residents are urged to stay away from the area until it is deemed safe.
CAROLINA BEACH — A man has barricaded himself inside an apartment in Carolina Beach and refused to come out or obey law enforcement commands.
At 11:21 p.m. Sunday night, Carolina Beach Police officers were dispatched to an apartment on 717 Glenn Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance, according to a statement issued by the CBPD Monday morning.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a male party with a firearm retreat out of view inside the residence,” according to the CBPD. “At this point, the male subject has refused to come out and to submit to law enforcement commands.”
Officers are still on the active scene, according to the department. Glenn Avenue is currently closed to vehicular traffic, while portions of Blanche and Kenneth Avenue are also closed off.
The department is urging residents and visitors to stay away from the area until the incident is resolved.
