Loggerhead sea turtle to be released tomorrow morning at Fort Fisher

The turtle has been rehabilitating at Fort Fisher for months

KURE BEACH—North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will release a rehabilitated sea turtle tomorrow morning in Kure Beach.

The 120-pound loggerhead sea turtle will be released on the beach in front of the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area “near the visitor center and the boardwalk” according to the aquarium’s release.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher’s Animal Care Team will release the turtle to the sea.

According to a North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher release, the rehabilitated turtle spent months at Ft. Fisher recovering from cold-stunning.

Now, the Animal Care Team believes the loggerhead is ready to return home.
