KURE BEACH – Have you or anyone you know caught “Pokemon Go” fever? Are you still looking for that elusive Pikachu? Or maybe just trying to build up your Pokedex? The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher wants to help trainers in their attempt to “catch ’em all.”
On Wednesday, Aug. 10, the aquarium will be dropping lures from 6 to 8 p.m. to attract as many Pokemon as possible. Trainers could potentially spot a Magikarp while looking at the fish tanks, or catch a Butterfree fluttering around the Butterfly Bungalow, or find a Charmander hanging out by the T-Rex in the dinosaur exhibit.
The Fort Fisher aquarium is already home to eight PokeStops and a Gym, so players can also stock up on Pokeballs and potions or battle other trainers and their Pokemon during the event.
Spaces are limited, so registration is encouraged. The cost for the after-hours event is $10.95 for children aged 3 to 12, $11.95 for military members and adults aged 62 or older, and $12.95 for participants between the ages of 13 and 61 (all prices do not include tax). A 10 percent discount is offered for aquarium members, and children under the age of 2 are free. The event is all-ages, but minors must be accompanied by a paying adult.
