A Myrtle Beach, S.C., man was sentenced to more than two years in prison in Brunswick County Superior Court on Wednesday for drug trafficking.
According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Emily Flax, Tristan Jaymar McNeil, 27, of Halyard Way in Myrtle Beach, was convicted of trafficking cocaine.
Superior Court Judge Mary Ann Tally sentenced McNeil to 35-42 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
McNeil pleaded no contest to the charges, Flax said.
On Feb. 4, 2012, McNeil was arrested by the sheriff’s office special operations traffic unit at a motor vehicle violation checking station in Shallotte, Flax said. McNeil attempted to avoid the checking station, but was stopped and found with 48 grams of cocaine–the equivalent of 400 street doses.
McNeil has served 15 months in the Brunswick County Detention Center.
