WILMINGTON — New Hope C.D.C has announced its plans to launch the New Hope Technology Preparatory Academy with the submission of a charter school application to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
This milestone marks a strategic expansion of New H.O.P.E. CDC, a nonprofit organization that has served more than 3,000 families through impactful community-based programs.
New Hope Technology Preparatory Academy is planned to be a tuition-free all-boys public charter school proposed to serve students in grades 9–12, plus an additional two years of college credential pathways, designed to deliver a “structured, high-performance environment focused on academic achievement, leadership, career readiness, and a culture of brotherhood.”
The academy plans to integrate:
- Rigorous college-preparatory curriculum aligned with North Carolina standards
- STEM-focused instruction emphasizing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to prepare students for high-demand careers
- Technology and career pathways including IT, business, and emerging industries
- Leadership development programming centered on discipline, accountability, and service
- Strong family and community engagement as a driver of student success
New H.O.P.E. CDC has established a track record of service through initiatives such as the Healthy Opportunities Pilot, Workforce Rental Assistance Program, Peer Support services, and Hope In School Zones. With this expansion, New H.O.P.E. CDC continues to advance its mission through its four core pillars: Housing, Economic Development, Rehabilitation, and now Education.
“This is a natural evolution of our work,” founder and CEO Robert Campbell said in a press release. “We have supported families with stability and resources—now we are extending that impact by building an educational institution that prepares young men to lead and succeed at the highest levels.”
New Hope C.D.C is hosting several community informational sessions about the academy, at 920 N. Sixth St. in Wilmington.
