WILMINGTON — The City of Wilmington is welcoming Robin Slade as its new asset and property management director, effective June 1.

Slade brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in public-sector operations, facilities management, and asset oversight.

She joins the city from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where she most recently served as director of custodial services. In that role, Slade oversaw facility operations across more than 180 schools and administrative buildings, led a workforce of more than 600 employees, managed a multimillion-dollar operating budget, and supported capital construction and modernization projects across a large, complex portfolio.

In her role with the City, Slade will provide strategic leadership, overseeing property management, and building, fleet, and right-of-way maintenance. She will direct departmental operations, manage budgets and contracts, and implement capital and operational initiatives to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality service delivery across city assets. Asset and Property Management was elevated during the organizational alignment to support the city’s coordinated approach to maintaining facilities, infrastructure, and operational resources.

“Robin brings extensive experience managing large, complex operations and a strong track record of delivering high-quality services in the public sector,” City Manager Becky Hawke said in press release. “We’re thrilled to welcome her to our team. Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen how we manage and maintain the City’s facilities, fleet, and public assets in support of our residents and organization.”
