The Wilmington Sharks’ game was postponed at Buck Hardee Field on Monday following the death of a longtime employee within the organization.
Kevin Cerasuolo, 39, served as the team’s clubhouse manager and collapsed just hours before first pitch. The death is under investigation, but police do not believe it was suspicious.
As a result, Monday’s game between the Sharks and Fayetteville Swampdogs will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 30. The Sharks continue their Coastal Plain League schedule with two games on the road Tuesday and Wednesday. Their next home game is set for Thursday, July 18, at Buck Hardee Field.
The club plans to honor Cerasuolo, but details have not been finalized.
American Legion playoffs
The Wilmington Post 10 American Legion baseball team has taken a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series against Whiteville as the defending state champions went on the road and pulled out a 10-3 win Monday.
Game three is set for tonight at Buck Hardee Field at 7 p.m.
