CAROLINA BEACH — It’s only open half the year, starting in March and closing shop mid-September.

This weekend marks the official end to the 2023 season, as Britts Donuts on Carolina Beach’s Boardwalk shutters until next spring.

In operation since 1939, Britt’s is owned by Bobby Nivens and has been recognized nationwide by Food + Wine, Our State, Saveur, and National Geographic magazines.

The glazed donuts are around a buck each or up to $10 a dozen and the restaurant only accepts cash.

Hours through the weekend are:

  • Sept. 8 –  3 p.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Sept. 9 — 8:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Sept. 10 — 8:30 a.m. 5 p.m. (or whenever the donuts run out)

Read more about the restaurant’s history from a 2021 piece published by PCD here.
