WILMINGTON — In collaboration with The Eagle’s Dare, the Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College is bringing summer to winter in Wilmington with a special edition of Free Concert Friday featuring food trucks and three local bands — Kicking Bird, Churchyard Ghost, and Tercel.

The concert will take place on Jan. 16, 2026. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with music beginning at 7 p.m.

Eagle’s Dare has been hosting Free Concert Fridays this past summer and to keep that momentum going through the quieter winter season, the Wilson Center is hosting a one-night return of Free Concert Friday on its own main stage.

“We’re so excited to host the longstanding free concert tradition that was established and beloved by so many folks in our region throughout the years,” Zach Pluer, executive director of the Wilson Center, said in a press release. “We can’t wait to open our doors and join the community in a fun night of supporting amazing local bands and vendors.”

In addition to the bands, food trucks — Smash-N-Dash and Seoul Sushi — and Fort Lowell Records will be on site. Fort Lowell Records is a local, independent label representing Kicking Bird and Tercel; it will be spinning vinyl in the lobby and announcing free raffle prizes between sets on the main stage. Raffle prizes include tickets and opera box experiences for nearly a dozen upcoming shows at the Wilson Center. The Eagle’s Dare will also announced is 2026 free concert lineup.

Free Concert Friday is open to everyone, and no reservations are required. For more information about the event or upcoming shows at the Wilson Center, visit WilsonCenterTickets.com or contact the box office at (910) 362-7999.
