The legendary band will take the stage at CFCC’s Wilson Center on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
Formed in 1966, the group has spent nearly 60 years traversing genres from folk and country to rock ‘n’ roll, pop, and bluegrass, becoming a cornerstone of American roots music, now known as “Americana.” Their catalog includes the 1971 hit “Mr. Bojangles” and their 1972 triple-Platinum album, Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
Over the last 60 years, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has not only been a major influence on the Americana genre but has also achieved numerous milestones across the musical and cultural landscape. Their career saw a resurgence in the 1980s when they pivoted toward the country charts, reeling off an impressive 17 consecutive Top 10 country hits, including the enduring favorite “Fishin’ in the Dark” and “Long Hard Road (The Sharecropper’s Dream).”
The Dirt Band holds a unique historical distinction: in 1977, the group became the first American musical act selected by the Soviet government to tour the USSR, playing to sold-out crowds and an enormous television audience of an estimated 140 million Soviet citizens.
As the band approaches its 60th anniversary in 2026, they are calling an end to their extensive touring career. Fans can expect a mix of reimagined classics and compelling newer works, showcasing the band’s signature vocal harmonies, instrumental skill, and live chemistry. They are also currently promoting their new 5-song EP, Night After Night, which was released just last week on October 24.
