We start this week with two publicly owned facilities with which residents feel a strong connection.
First up, is the New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC). As the process of exploring a potential sale moves forward, the idea is rapidly becoming a political issue. This week, the New Hanover County Democratic Party released the results of a poll that showed over 80% opposition to selling the hospital to a for-profit, and around 50% opposition to selling to a non-profit.
We get into what else the poll showed and why the issue is getting increasingly political.
Then, we look at the City of Wilmington’s effort to privatize the management of the Hugh Morton Amphitheater (more often called the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater). We talk about the latest in the process, and the questions we still have.
Also this week: an election challenge in the H2GO election. What happened? Unshockingly, it’s complicated. Plus, the latest from Freeman Park.
