WILMINGTON — Larry Wayne Vinson, born on April 17, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 80.
Larry dedicated his professional life to the fields of manufacturing engineering and business ownership, where he applied his skills with diligence and integrity. Beyond his work, Larry found joy in the quietude of nature, whether through hunting, fishing, or a round of golf on a sunny afternoon. His hands were often busy with woodworking projects. He also enjoyed a good glass of bourbon. A true lover of animals, especially dogs, Larry’s compassion extended beyond his human connections.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn D. Vinson, Juanita (Hathaway)Raymer and his step father Robert Raymer, his son Matthew Vinson, and brother Milburn W. Vinson. Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his daughter Kelli Eckman and her husband Brett of St. Charles, MO; his son Stacy Vinson and his wife Breony of Hampstead, NC; as well as his beloved 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Services for Larry will be announced at a later date. The family kindly requests that those who wish to honor Larry’s memory consider making a memorial donation to the Pender County Humane Society, reflecting his deep love for dogs.
Larry’s warmth, humor, and easygoing spirit left a mark on everyone who knew him. He’d want to be remembered not with tears, but with a smile, a good story, and maybe even a toast with your favorite bourbon.
