WILMINGTON — Thomas Preston Barham, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on January 21, 1953, in Raleigh, North Carolina, he was 72 years old at the time of his passing.
Thomas dedicated over 40 years of service as a Laboratory Supervisor at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he was respected and admired by colleagues for his commitment and expertise.
A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology. His passion for science was equaled only by his love for photography and aviation, both of which gave him great joy throughout his life. He was also deeply involved with North Carolina State Sport Athletic Activity for many years, capturing the essence of sports through his artistic lens.
Thomas was a cherished member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church, where he often found solace and community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston Harvey Barham and Evelyn Irene Moore Barham; his brother, Terry Barham; and his beloved dog, Max.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Lynda Raye Johnson Barham of the home; his daughters, Andrea Sullivan and her husband, Lance of Knoxville, TN; Heather Howard and her husband, Kyle of Leland, NC; and Lauren Grubbs and her husband, Brandon of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by his nephew, Zachary Barham, and sister-in-law, Lisa Barham of Port Royal, PA; his father-in-law, Delbert Johnson of Wilmington; a brother-in-law, Ricky Johnson and wife, Barbara of Salisbury, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.
