WILMINGTON — Henry Philip Wiley, Jr., a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, and proud veteran, passed away at the age of 83 on May 29, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on May 1, 1942, in New York, New York, Henry lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.
Henry proudly served his country in the United States Army for 27 years, retiring with the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he bravely served in both Vietnam and Korea, earning numerous commendations and ribbons for his exemplary service and commitment. His dedication to his fellow soldiers and his nation was a testament to his unwavering sense of duty.
Following his retirement from the Army, Henry continued to serve others through various roles in the field of security. His work reflected the same principles of integrity and responsibility that characterized his military career.
Beyond his professional life, Henry was actively involved in his community. He found joy and fulfillment in contributing to the Special Olympics in Wilmington, where he offered his support and encouragement to all participants. As a man of faith, he was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and a dedicated member in the American Legion Biggs-Kramer Post #545.
Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Jeanne Wiley on November 22, 2021; his brother, Kevin Michael Wiley; his sister, Elaine Griffin; and his parents, Henry Philip Wiley, Sr. and Evelyn Mary Gust Wiley.
He is survived by his loving children, Kelly Marie Wiley and Michael Philip Wiley, and Cynthia Lortz; his sister, Donna Marie Zyrski; as well as extended family members and cherished friends who will remember him fondly.
Henry Philip Wiley, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of courage, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family, faith, and country. He will be missed by all who had the honor to have known him.
