WILMINGTON — Becky Brizzolara passed peacefully, surrounded by family on April 26, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Evanthia Kamenos. She is survived by her brothers William and Demetrios, and her sister Maria (Susan Williams) and her sons, Anthony (Brielle) and Demetrios.
Becky was born and raised on the near West side of Cleveland, Ohio. She attended West Tech High School and later graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Becky met her husband Tony in 1986, while working as a fitness instructor at a downtown Cleveland YMCA. The attraction was instantaneous and they were wed, fittingly, on the hottest day on record in Cleveland in 1988. They settled in Lakewood, Ohio, where Anthony and Demetrios soon arrived to complete the family. They moved to Aurora, Ohio in 1991, and spent the next 26 years there.
Becky was the family anchor who was always there cheering her sons on through soccer, baseball, basketball, football, and hockey games – she loved watching them and the friendships she developed with other moms through grammar school, high school, and college games. She was also the rock that allowed her husband to do his job, despite the long hours and absences it often required.
Becky always loved children and found her niche working as a pediatric dental assistant. She even managed to find children to babysit once her sons were older. The garden was her refuge and she loved maintaining her vegetable beds and flowers. She even turned her husband into something of a gardener; he became her right-hand man as she planted, weeded, and watered, sharing the knowledge he will carry with him as he maintains their yard in Leland.
In keeping with Becky’s love of children, in lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. Becky was a long-time monthly donor and Tony will continue to donate in her memory.
