WILMINGTON — James Harold Thomas, known affectionately as Jimmy, passed away on April 25, 2024, at the age of 81 in Wilmington, NC. He was born on May 6, 1942, in Carthage, NC.
Jimmy dedicated many years of his life working in the automobile industry as a Service Advisor retiring from Stevenson Acura after many years of honorable service with many awards and accomplishments. His commitment and expertise earned him respect among his colleagues and customers.
Outside of work, Jimmy found true joy in spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife of over 61 years, Rosemary Palmer Kelly Thomas. He cherished moments with his children, James Mark Thomas and wife Michelle, Susan Prince Fowler, and Lisa Rose Villiger and husband Ryon, along with his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he treasured every precious moment spent with them.
In his leisure time, Jimmy found solace and adventure on the water, indulging in his passion for fishing and hunting. These outdoor pursuits brought him peace and fulfillment, allowing him to connect with nature and create lasting memories.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren Ashleigh (Tony), Kaitlyn (Dre), Laura (Brandon), Dalton (Ben), Lauren (Austin), Julia (Jay), Riley, Macie, Madison, and James “Luke”; great-grandchildren Addison James, Alex, Aberdeen, Ethan, Liam, Roman, Luna, and Sadie; his sister, Barbara Esposito of Williamsville, NY; and special friend (neighbor) David Cribb. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Harold Thomas and Eve Mae Caddell Thomas.
His expertise in the automotive industry proceeded him and made Jimmy sought out after throughout Wilmington and the surrounding areas. Although these accomplishments are great, he considered creating memories with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the greatest accomplishment of all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the family home.
