BURGAW — Thomas Green Davis, age 91, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Burgaw, NC passed away peacefully from his earthly life Friday, April 19, 2024, in LaBelle, FL.
He was born October 14, 1932, in Castle Hayne, the son of Cain Huey Davis and Vivian Landen Davis. TG had outlived all his family as he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Louise Smith Davis; their two sons, Donald Davis and Mark Davis; sisters, Grace Paluck and Helen Murray; and brothers, Carl “Buddy Boy” Davis, Mark Davis, and Reate Davis.
TG is survived by the sunshine in his later life, his wife, Mildred “Millie” Hansen Davis; stepsons, Nils Anders Hansen (Raylene) and Kurt Kold Hansen (Ann Marie); and step grandchildren, Erik Hansen, Grant Hansen, Henrik Hansen and Mia Hansen. He is also survived by other close family, his nephews, Brian McDowell, Carl Davis, Charles Davis (Allison), Reate Davis, Robert Davis (Maria); and nieces, Lisa Paluck, Roxanna Wilson, Theresa Miller, and Victoria Hoover (David); sisters in law, Claudia Davis and Etta Russ Davis Sherrod; along with many great nieces and great nephews.
TG proudly served four years as a cook in the U.S. Navy on the USS Everett F. Larson, a Gearing-class destroyer, during the war with Korea. After leaving the Navy, in 1963 he started working at the Public Service Gas Company of North Carolina. He retired in 1995 as a Superintendent of the Concord Division with 32 years of devoted service. TG spent his retirement years traveling with Millie and especially enjoying their homes in Moore Haven, FL in the Winter, the lake cottage in Grafton, NH in the Summer and alternating between their homes in Myrtle Beach, SC and Burgaw, NC every Spring and Fall. He had friends all over the United States who regularly stayed connected with him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel, 308 W. Fremont St., Burgaw, NC 28425 with Rev. Art Sauer conducting the service.
