LELAND — Dick McElroy passed away on January 15, 2024 at his home in Leland, NC. He was formally from South Salem, NY; born and lived in Stamford, CT.
Dick was a loving husband. He is survived by his wife Melanie, sister Betsy McKinnon (Fred), brothers Paul McElroy (Linda), Daniel McElroy (Sue), mother- in-law Theodora Deitch, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dick was pre-deceased by his parents Tom and Mary McElroy, father-in-law Lee Deitch, brother-in-law Bill Deitch, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dick was a kind, sensitive, gentle soul who was dedicated to his family and friends. He was a generous person; a mentor to many of his co-workers. Dick had a great sense of humor.
Dick enjoyed swimming, walking along the beach and spending time with family and friends.
There will be a private service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
