WILMINGTON — Leonard Wayne Greenough passed away at his home in Wilmington Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.
Wayne was born on October 4, 1946 the son of Ernest Lester Greenough and Lottie Mae Farrow Greenough in Wilmington, NC. Wayne graduated from New Hanover High School class of 1965 where he excelled at Football and Baseball. After school He joined the US Army for 8 years. When Wayne left the Army, he went to work for Bell South Telephone Company. He enjoyed being employed at Bell South before retiring after 34 years.
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Wilmington, NC. He was also a lifelong member of Masonboro Baptist Church. Wayne had a love for history and aircraft.
Wayne loved his family and is survived by his wife Linda Craig Greenough of Wilmington, NC, Sons Keith and Caroline Greenough, David Greenough both of Wilmington, NC. A sister Lorraine Johnson of Clayton, NC. Grandchildren Parker and Carolina Greenough of Wilmington, Madison and Dustin Tenorio of Leland, NC, Trevor Donaldson and Brandon Donaldson of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by Nephews Brian and Brandy Kraft, and Ryan and Heather Kraft. Wayne was preceded in death by a daughter Renae Greenough.
The family will be greeting friends and family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Masonboro Baptist Church, 1501 Beasley Road, Wilmington, NC 28409.
