WILMINGTON — Ralph Christmas, 88, a beloved resident of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 31, 1935, in Marion, SC, to the late Major Ralph Christmas and Sally T. Christmas.

Ralph’s journey through life was marked by dedication and achievement. He graduated from New Hanover High School and pursued a career in healthcare, receiving training as an x-ray technician. His professional journey began at Southern General Hospital in Lumberton, NC, before he transferred to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he ultimately retired. Ralph held the distinction of being the first technician to train and assist in the introduction of NHRMC’s inaugural MRI machine.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph was known for his enduring kindness and remarkable athletic prowess. He found joy in various sports and cherished moments spent fishing and swimming.

A pillar of the Winter Park Baptist Church community for 43 years, Ralph’s faith was unwavering. He also held membership in the Order of Masons, exemplifying a commitment to fellowship and service.

Ralph is survived by his devoted wife, Betty A. Christmas, and their three sons, Phil Christmas (Barbara), Tim Christmas (Julie), and Mitch Christmas (Joyce). He is also remembered fondly by his sisters Donna Sue Serepedes and Sally Christmas; grandchildren, Ryan (Tricia) Lee, Trevor, and Derek; and his great-grandson, Andrew.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Baker.

A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a donation to Winter Park Baptist Church, Lower Cape Fear Life Care, or a charity close to your heart.
