BRUNSWICK COUNTY — A wastewater discharge Saturday occurred for roughly six hours, according to the Town of Shallotte.

It took place Saturday evening from the town’s force main at 670 Village Rd. wherein approximately 14,700 gallons flowed out. Most of the leakage entered a dry ditch and was recovered by pump trucks, the town noted in a release. The repair to the force main’s broken line was made immediately.

The town notified the Division of Emergency Management on Sunday, which is currently reviewing the incident.
