WILMINGTON — Kenneth Ray “Karo” Snead Sr., 75, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019.
Born Jan. 21, 1943, in Rockingham, he was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mattie (Simpson) Snead; and two sisters.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Catherine “Kitzie” Stanley Snead; sons, Ray Snead (retired N.C. State Highway Patrol), Lee Snead (Cisco Systems) and Andy Snead (North Ridge Country Club); and granddaughter, Sophie Snead, all of the Raleigh area.
He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy and a retired law enforcement officer of 34 years. He worked with the N.C State Highway Patrol, N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and Chief of Police at Bald Head Island.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington. The family will conduct a private burial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NCTA Caisson Unit (North Carolina Troopers Association).
