WILMINGTON — Vickey E. Simon, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was born Sept. 22, 1949, the daughter of the late James and Mildred “Pat” Simon of Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jamie Singletary.
Vickey was born and raised in Wilmington and attended New Hanover High School, where she graduated in 1967. She was a retired secretary with the Star News.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda M. Schoenwiesner, and her husband, Brian Schoenwiesner; two grandsons, Gavin Marshall and Finnley James; two sisters, Linda S. Venters of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kimberly A. Simon of Wilmington; two nieces, Lauren V. Weaver and Megan L. Singletary; and nephew, Joshua A. Venters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow services in Oakdale Cemetery.
