Richard Eugene “Dick” Loomis, of Shallotte and formerly of Painesville, Ohio, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at the age of 83.
Born in Painesville, Ohio, on Nov. 15, 1931, he was a son of the late Alton Leo and Jessie Bell Kinnin Loomis.
He graduated from Harvey High School and began a lifelong career in the tool and die machinists industry. Dick was also a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Painesville, Ohio, and was active in the church choir. He will be fondly remembered for his friendly personality and enjoyed taking photographs and collecting coins.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Loomis; son, James Loomis; brother, Charles Loomis; and sister, Mary Lou Briggs.
Survivors include his children, Ronald Loomis (Laurie), Jimmy Musgrave, Dan Musgrave, Scottie Musgrave (Mary Beth), Lynda Loomis (Peter Ross), Lori White (David) and Susan Guthrie (David); sister-in-law, JoAnne Schneider (Bob); mother-in-law, Ruth Schutz; grandchildren, Thomas and Becky White, Cameron and Justin Loomis, Adam and Anna Musgrave, Jordan and Kayla Guthrie and Marion, Maggie, Noah and Tristan Musgrave; special nieces and nephews, Elaine, James, Angie, Abby and Chance; and his canine companion, Shadow.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte. Inurnment will follow at Mintz Cemetery.
