A Sunset Farm Foods product has been recalled due to extraneous material contamination found in thousands of pounds of shipped product at locations in North Carolina, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Around 4,480 pounds of Georgia Special Pork and Chicken Sausage, produced by Sunset Farm Foods Inc., may contain “thin blue plastic.” The 28-ounce packages are vacuum sealed with an Oct. 28 sell-by date; the products were created on June 20, 2022, and have the number “P 9185.”

The plastic was found due to consumer complaints, though there have not been adverse reactions reported.

FSIS suggests consumers toss the product or return it to the place of purchase.

More information can be found at the USDA website; consumers can also call USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854).
