CF Memorial Bridge undergoes maintenance

WILMINGTON — According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will undergo maintenance repairs this week.

As such, a lane of the bridge will close for several hours, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. On Tuesday, the closure will affect the right eastbound lane. On Wednesday, it will close the right westbound lane.

Repair crews will be working on its deck grates which make for “a smoother ride and will prevent further damage in the future,” according to the NCDOT release.

The department advises motorists avoid the area, if possible. If traveling over it, use caution.
