The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has recalled around 14,107 pounds of ground turkey products from possible contamination of extraneous materials.
FSIS said blue plastic may be found in Butterball ground turkey products. The LLC operates out of Mount Olive, N.C., and the turkey was produced Sept. 28 and shipped worldwide. The contaminant was found due to a customer complaint, but not from injuries reported from consumption.
According FSIS, products being recalled include:
- 2.5-lb. trays containing “farm to family BUTTERBALL all natural Ground Turkey” with the case code 50211271, a sell or freeze by date of 10/18/2021, and timestamps from 2123 through 2302 printed on the packaging
- 3-lb. tray containing “Kroger GROUND TURKEY” with the case code 50211271, a sell or freeze by date of 10/17/2021, and timestamps from 2314 through 2351 printed on the packaging
Each product’s USDA mark of inspection will bear an establishment number “EST. P-7345.”
Anyone who has purchased these products should immediately throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
