Pender County has hefty vaccine schedule next week

Covid-19 vaccines will be available in Pender County next week at multiple locations, at a time when the inoculation operation is slowing significantly in the tri-county area. For Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties combined, only 100 new first doses of the vaccine came inbound this week; local shot providers are drawing from unused stock obtained weeks ago.

Everyone 18 and older can receive a Moderna vaccine at the county health department — 803 S. Walker Street in Burgaw — at a walk-in clinic running everyday next week from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Except for Thursday, when Moderna shots will be available at the Pender County Annex — 15060 Highway 17 in Hampstead.

Next Tuesday, May 25, the health department will deliver the Pfizer vaccine at the Walker St. location to anyone 12 or older. On Thursday, May 27, Pfizer will be available at the Pender County Annex. For those shots, appointments are recommended and can be made on the county website.

Pender County officials can be reached regarding the Covid-19 vaccine at (910) 259-1230.
