Nestlé Prepared Foods announced the recall of 92,206 pounds of Lean Cuisine Baked Chicken meal products. The frozen meals could be contaminated with pieces of white hard plastic, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Packaged on September 2, 2020, the 8 5/8 ounce Lean Cuisine Baked Chicken comes with white meat chicken with stuffing, red skin mashed potatoes and gravy. Its lot code is 0246595911, with a “Best Before” date of Oct. 2021, and inside the USDA mark of inspection is the establishment number “EST. P-9018.”
Five consumers complained about finding hard white plastic in the frozen dinners. The firm believes a conveyor belt broke during production and ended up in the mashed potatoes. There were no reports of injury.
The recall is nationwide, and consumers who have purchased the product should throw them away or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
Consumers can call Nestlé Prepared Foods at (800) 993-8625. Food safety questions can be directed to the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854).
