Monday, May 4
The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Skyline Center, 929 N. Front St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Resolution in Support of Solly’s Law / Tobacco 21 to Protect Children from Vaping and Nicotine Addiction
- Resolution in Support of the Proposed Medical School at the University of North Carolina Wilmington
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. in the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Juvenile Crime Prevention Council funding resolution
- New Hanover Community Endowment presentation
Burgaw Town Council will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. in the Burgaw Town Center, 108 E Wilmington St. The agenda includes a work session regarding council update on quasi-judicial procedures and a budget update and discussion. Action could be taken on a resolution with concerns regarding proposed state legislation impacting property tax authority and local government revenue in North Carolina
Carolina Beach Budget Open House will take place at 4 p.m. in council chambers at town hall. Carolina Beach has 3.5 cent tax increase planned; see previous coverage here.
The Pender County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m., 805 S. Walker Street in Burgaw. The agenda includes an update on both the suspended 2026 property revaluation and the emergency services merger. The meeting will livestream here.
The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will hold a budget meeting at 9 a.m., 30 Government Center Drive. The meeting will livestream here.
The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will meet at 3 p.m., 30 Government Center Drive. The agenda includes consideration of approval for a construction agreement with T.A. Loving Company in the amount of $5.5 million for the construction of the Southport Evaluation and Rehabilitation of Wastewater System. The meeting will livestream here.
Tuesday, May 5
The New Hanover County Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Approval of the legislative agenda
- 2026-2027 Budget
- Consider designating a Legislative Workday within the 2026-27 School Calendar
The Pender County Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Hampstead Annex auditorium, 15060 U.S Highway 17. The agenda includes a public hearing on a master plan revision for the Point South development on U.S Highway 17. The revision proposes 181 single-family detached units and 252 multi-family units, for a total increase in units of 15. The meeting will livestream here.
The Surf City Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Surf City Municipal Complex. The agenda includes consideration of awarding a $12 million bid from ELJ, Inc., for the Surf City Community Center Disposal Improvements project. The meeting will livestream here.
Brunswick County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in the Cape Fear Room of The Center of Applied Sciences and Technology, 1109 Old Ocean Highway. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

Wednesday, May 6
The Wilmington Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in the Skyline Center, 929 N. Front St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Adoption of a special area plan for the neighborhoods that were part of the city’s corporate limits in 1945 and the Lovegrove neighborhood as an appendix to the Create Wilmington Comprehensive Plan
Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Finance Committee meets at 9 a.m. in the Jordan Conference, 235 Government Center Dr. Thereafter at 10 a.m. the Executive Committee meets. Its agenda includes various reports. Both meetings are open to the public.
New Hanover County Airport Authority meets at 5 p.m. in the ILM Conference Room. The agenda includes the proposed FY27 budget be made available for public comment for a period of twenty (20) days.
Kure Beach Planning and Zoning meets the first Wednesday monthly at 6 p.m. at 117 Settlers Lane. An agenda was not posted by press.
Southport Historic Preservation Commission meets Indian Trail Hall, 113 W. Moore St. at The agenda includes an update on local historic preservation design standards.

Thursday, May 7
The New Hanover County Planning Board will meet at 5 p.m. in the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Rezoning Request – (Z26-06) – Request by Byron Melvin with WB Coastal Development, LLC, applicant, and property owner, to rezone an approximately 1.01-acre portion of an approximately 7.11-acre parcel located at 924 N. Seabreeze Road from B-2, Regional Business to a R-15, Residential district.
- Special Use Permit Request – (S26-03) – Special Use Permit request by Del Crawford with Crawford Design Company, applicant, on behalf of Optimist Club of Cape Fear, INC, property owner, for the uses of Outdoor Recreation Establishment and Lodges, Fraternal, and Social Organizations in the AR, Airport Residential District on approximately 11.48 acres located at 3222 N. Kerr Avenue.
The Pender County Technical Review Committee will meet at 9 a.m., 805 S. Walker Street in Burgaw. The agenda includes review of the preliminary plat for the Hilltop Landing development, featuring 70 homes and commercial space on 20 acres off U.S. Highway 17. Also, the committee will review plans for a Wawa convenience store, to be located on the south side of US Highway 17, just south of the intersection of Sloop Point Loop Road and US Highway 17 intersection.
