NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Two intersections in the county are slated for a change in traffic flow this month as state officials move to curb the risk of serious collisions.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced plans to convert the intersections of Kerr Avenue at Farley Drive and Princess Place Drive at Barclay Hills Drive into all-way stops. The conversions will involve the installation of new stop signs and updated pavement markings.

Work is scheduled to begin March 12 at the Kerr Avenue and Farley Drive intersection, followed by the Princess Place Drive and Barclay Hills Drive intersection on March 16.
NCDOT officials described the all-way stop as a proven, cost-effective safety measure designed to enhance intersection security and reduce the risk of serious crashes. The department often implements these changes at locations with high crash volumes or sight-distance issues to prevent T-bone and high-speed accidents.
The scheduled work is weather-dependent and subject to change. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and remain alert for workers and new traffic patterns while the improvements are underway.
