School schedules for Wednesday, Feb. 4, following Winter Storm Gianna

Schools and colleges are announcing schedules for Wednesday, Feb. 4, following the weekend’s Winter Storm Gianna, which brought 5 to 12 inches or more of snow across the tri-county region and had many institutions either closed or operating on remote learning schedules. (Courtesy Pexels)

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — As snow continues to melt — and in some regions up to a foot of it — schools districts and local colleges and universities continue to assess scheduling for Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Below are announcements on hours of operations expected at local educational institutions in the tri-county region, as listed alphabetically. It will be updated throughout the day Tuesday, so check back.

Brunswick County Community College  Campus is closed Wednesday, Feb. 4, because of hazardous road conditions, including the Dinah E. Gore Sports & Aquatics Complex and the Odell Williamson Auditorium. However, classes will move to remote learning where possible.

Brunswick County Schools — Remote learning day on Wednesday, Feb. 4, as buildings will be closed. 

Cape Fear Academy — To operate normally on Wednesday.

Cape Fear Community College — Resumes normal operations on Wednesday, with all classes meeting as scheduled. The Bonnie Sanders Burney Child Development Center also will be open for normal hours.

New Hanover County Schools — All schools will operate on a remote learning schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Pender County Schools — Operating as a remote learning day on Wednesday, including for Penderlea students and staff. Transportation, maintenance, and operations crews have been assessing roadway conditions and found snow and ice remains on a number of corridors, making it unsafe for bus transportation. 

UNCW — Resuming normal operations on Wednesday at 7 a.m.
