NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A new leader will guide the area’s nonprofit agency that offers services for children dealing with trauma and abuse.
Carousel Child Advocacy Center has hired Carrie Theall as its new executive director. With two decades of nonprofit leadership experience, Theall has championed initiatives to help strengthen outcomes for children, according to a release from Carousel Center.
Theall, who has a master’s and graduated from UNCG, with training from Duke University in nonprofit leadership, served as the Early Learning Coalition of Marion County in Florida for the last three years. She has worked with North Carolina’s Smart Start network and helped in advancing school readiness and improving systems that support young children and families across the state.
“Carrie’s deep experience, collaborative leadership style, and unwavering dedication to children make her an outstanding fit for CCAC,” Shemeka Kemp, chair of the CCAC Board of Directors, said in the release.
Theall serves as a former foster parent, has worked with children with special needs and developmental disabilities, and minors impacted by abuse and neglect.
“I am honored to join Carousel Child Advocacy Center and continue this critical work on behalf of children and families in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender counties,” she said in a release.
Theall steps into the role following the exit of former director Amy Feath, who led the agency for more than a decade.
