SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Some residents from Wilmington’s Cheyenne Trail and Apache Trail have been issued a precautionary water boil advisory from Cape Fear public Utility Authority.

Effective Monday, Jan. 12, the advisory affects around 70 people in the 101 to 214 blocks of Cheyenne Trail and the 100 to 200 blocks of Apache Trail.

A leak on a water main is being repaired, with crews working to restore service.

Affected residents may experience periods of low or no pressure in the water distribution system; it also increases the potential for back siphonage and could introduce bacteria into the water system.

Customers should boil water for 1 minute before consuming, such as brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food, washing vegetables and more. Though there is no need to boil water to shower or bathe.

CFPUA will test the water and inform the public it is safe to drink upon lifting the precautionary advisory.
