Routine bridge maintenance leads to temporary lane closure in WB

Causeway Bridge will undergo maintenance repair next week. (Port City Daily/File)

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – The four-lane Causeway Drive bridge will close one lane next week.

Routine bridge maintenance is required, with North Carolina Department of Transportation crews correcting concrete spalling to prevent tiny pieces flaking off and doing touchups on the side and underneath the bridge.

One of the outside lanes, near the sidewalks, will close between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on April 7 and could remain that day for a few days, likely through April 11. Crews will work on the outside land into Wrightsville Beach first and switch to the outside lane leaving the beach once completed.

The other three lanes remain open to traffic during repairs, though motorists should proceed with caution through work zones.
