The Agenda: This week in local government, May 3-May 7

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — It may feel impossible to keep up with local issues while they’re still being worked out.

Getting involved early on in the policy-making process can help ensure the community’s input gets heard before it’s too late to chime in.

You may not even need to attend (in person or virtually) to make sure your perspective is taken into consideration. Oftentimes, sending an email to government officials to be considered as a public comment pertaining to a particular item can put your voice into the public record.

Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government meetings of interest around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, we’ll include that below the listed meeting, too.

Here’s what’s on this week’s agenda:

Monday, May 3

Wilmington City Council will meet for an agenda preview beginning at 8:30 a.m. Stream the meeting.

Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will hold a goals and budget meeting in the commissioners’ chambers building beginning at 9 a.m. View the agenda.

Oak Island Planning Board will meet at 1 p.m. View the agenda.

Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting in the commissioners’ chambers building beginning at 3 p.m. View the agenda.

New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting beginning at 4 p.m. at the historic courthouse in downtown Wilmington. View the agenda.

Pender County Board of Commissioners will meet beginning at 4 p.m. in the public assembly room in Burgaw. View the agenda. Stream the meeting.

Tuesday, May 4

Brunswick County Schools Board of Education will meet beginning at 6 p.m. in Bolivia. View the agenda.

Wrightsville Beach Board of Alderman will meet beginning at 8:30 a.m. for a budget workshop meeting.

Oak Island Town Council will meet at 10 a.m. to discuss the budget. View the agenda.

Wilmington City Council will meet for a regular meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. View the agenda. Stream the meeting.

Wednesday, May 5
