WILMINGTON — A water main project is scheduled to take place in the Bay Shore and Porters Neck area next month and Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is meeting with community members about its scope.
A meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the upcoming Furtado Drive water main project. It will take place at Porters Neck Elementary School cafeteria, 416 Edgewater Club Rd.
Residents can drop in any time to speak with CFPUA staff about the project, which will begin mid-November and last through January. The work includes installation of a 12-inch-diameter water main, and public-side water service lines and meters at 19 homes on Furtado Drive.
The work is part of a larger Bayshore Water Main Interconnections Project designed to improve connectivity in the area. The larger Bayshore project will involve additional interconnections along Market Street and installation of a separate water main along Bayshore Drive, according to a release from CFPUA.
A separate community meeting is planned in November for customers impacted by the Bayshore Drive portion.
