WILMINGTON–The Cape Fear Independent (CFI) Film Festival turns 18 this year with a three-day event featuring 48 films beginning this Thursday and wrapping up Saturday.
Films include several in the horror genre spanning from 5:30 pm to 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 14. Friday and Saturday will include films of different genres, many with a focus on the state of North Carolina.
The festival will also introduce a new art exhibit at the Wilmington Film Museum.
The CFI Film Festival site says the exhibit will showcase “a look at Crew Stories, the work of Stephen King, Multiple Use Locations and a ‘Binge-worthy Summer Movies’ section.”
Saturday will include an actor’s discussion panel. According to the site, the panel will comprise working actors discussing the ins and outs of navigating the industry and building a career in acting.
Also on Saturday, Wilmington filmmaker and member of the Dogma Cape Fear filmmaking collective Robert Cummins will be showing his GenX documentary.
Panel participants include Cullen Moss, Jason Davis and Traci Dinwiddie of The Walking Dead alongside several other actors that are listed on the festival’s website.
Aside from the big film debuts, there is also the Wilmington Film Awards. There are several categories, including the female director’s award and best North Carolina film. Later, participants can finish the night off with a Saturday evening dance party with an 80s Prom Night theme.
