WILMINGTON — To the likely disappointment of many, residents of Wilmington won’t be getting their trash picked up Friday.
Trash collection has been canceled Friday after the city on Thursday had planned to resume business as usual. As of today, collections for Wilmington residential trash customers may resume Saturday, but depending on road conditions, could be delayed even further.
“Citizens are asked to be patient as we try to get caught up,” wrote Malissa Talbert, communications manager for Wilmington.
The city made its decision out of concern for the safety of motorists on the road and crews on the back of the trucks.
“While some major thoroughfares in town are passable, most neighborhood streets remain very icy,” Talbert wrote.
Limited pick up in the Commercial Business District downtown will begin after noon Friday, Jan. 5.
