As the History series “Six” gets back into swing with shoots around town this week, another locally filmed TV show is taking over area locales.
The TNT drama “Good Behavior” is set to be on location Tuesday near Greenfield Lake at Shannon’s Auto Body, 521 Greenfield St., according to a permit filed with the City of Wilmington. The show’s arrival in Wilmington in March marked the return of the once-familiar yellow crew signs, as “Good Behavior” cast and crew have set up along Castle Street, in area restaurants like Elizabeth’s Pizza and Carolina Fish Fry and on the iconic Sixth Street Bridge – the same bridge in the opening sequence of cult classic teen show, “One Tree Hill.”
Set in North Carolina and starring Michelle Dockery of “Downton Abbey,” “Good Behavior” is based off Blake Crouch’s bestselling Letty Dobesh book series. Fresh out of prison, Dobesh (Dockery), a thief and con artist, finds herself entangled in a hired hitman’s plan to kill another man’s wife.
Tuesday’s shoot will run from 2 to 9 p.m. to film dialogue scenes between three actors outside the mechanic shop. It will require some intermittent traffic control on Greenfield Street between Fifth and Seventh, as well as on Sixth between Greenfield and Martin Street, Stroud Alley at Martin and Pinecrest Parkway at Terrace Walk.
Another trio of actors will film some workout scenes inside O2 Fitness, 1315 Independence Blvd. in Hanover Center, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The small cast, along with a crew of 20 and about 10 extras, will not cause any disruption to traffic flow and will have access to onsite parking for trucks and equipment.
Then, it’s back to Castle Street Thursday for interior and exterior scenes at an office in the 600 block. The 12-hour shoot–8 a.m. to 8 p.m.–will again include just a few actors but will bring along a hefty crew of 80. During filming, Sixth Street will be blocked off from Queen to Castle. During exterior shots, Castle will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians between Fifth and Seventh streets. Any delays are expected to last only two or three minutes, the film permit specifies, and will not be held during rush hours of 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m.
“Good Behavior” first came to the Port City in December to shoot its pilot, then returned last month for its first nine-episode season. The show was quickly followed by the History channel’s “Six,” about a US Navy SEAL Team. “Six” filmed at various spots downtown and at EUE/Screen Gems before announcing a hiatus spurred by lead actor Joe Manganiello’s sudden exit.
Last week, A+E Networks announced that “Justified” actor Walton Goggins was picked to fill the role, and filming resumed ahead of schedule Friday with a fight scene at Screen Gems. On Wednesday, the show will take over Bellevue Cemetery on Princess Place Drive for a “graveyard mourning scene,” according to the film permit.
