Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for multiple drug charges and carrying a concealed weapon.
According to Wilmington Police Detective Kevin Smith, police arrested Bradley Cole Abernathy of Wilmington at 5:22 p.m. after a routine traffic stop on Queen Street.
According to Smith, a New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling the area when he pulled over Abernathy in his vehicle. Wilmington Police assisted the stop and saw a knife concealed in Abernathy’s vehicle. Police searched Abernathy and found 10 bindles of heroin in his possession. Police also found synthetic marijuana and bags in his vehicle.
Abernathy has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of heroin, misdemeanor and felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Abernathy has been taken to the New Hanover County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
