NEW HANOVER COUNTY – New Hanover County and surrounding area residents will have a chance to join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease at an annual event to be held at Wrightsville Beach this fall.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is slated to take place Nov. 4 in the WB park at 321 Causeway Dr. It’s the largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research, as hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association – Eastern North Carolina chapter.
Registration is open at act.alz.org/wilmingtonnc or by calling 800-272-3900. Check-in opens at 9 a.m. with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m., and the walk begins at 10:30 a.m.
On walk day, participants honor those affected by the disease with the “Promise Garden” ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the “Promise Garden” flowers represent those who are connected to Alzheimer’s and personal reasons to end the disease.
