WILMINGTON — A popular fast-food brand will be launching its eighth eatery the first week of the year in Wilmington proper.

Chick-fil-A is opening at 608 Shipyard Blvd. on Thursday, Jan. 8, owned and operated by Bennett Goss. The North Carolina native has been with the fast-food chain for more than 13 years.

All customers who attend the grand opening day can receive a free kid’s meal or one free entrée — but only if they arrive wearing cow spots or sporting a cow-spotted accessory. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will create around 90 jobs, according to a release from the franchise.

The Shipyard Boulevard opening follows renovations of the store on Market Street and New Center Drive, as well as the Monkey Junction location currently undergoing a remodel.

With headquarters in Atlanta, Chick-fil-A is the third largest fast-food franchise in the United States, with 3,000 restaurants in the nation, Canada and Puerto Rico. It also launched in the UK and Asia in 2025.

As part of the eighth eatery to open in Wilmington the restaurant is donating $25,000 to Feeding America, its partnership to help end hunger in the nation. This money will be donated to local organizations, such as food banks.
